If you arrive home and find a broken window, an alarm sounding, or another indication of a break-in, DO NOT GO IN. You do not want to encounter an intruder, or damage any evidence such as fingerprints or footprints.

Note: You should apply to renew your permit prior to your birth date. This will allow the existing permit to stay active even after it expires, assuming the application process has started but not completed before the expiration date. If you wait to file for renewal after your birth date, which is when the card expires, then you cannot legally possess or carry a firearm in the Commonwealth. There is no grace period!
