The Ashfield Planning Board has received an application to build a wireless facility (cell tower) at 2003 Conway Road, Ashfield. The Applicant is New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC d/b/a AT&T Mobility.
At the Planning Board's April 28 meeting, the Notice of Decision was approved. On April 29, a signed copy of the Notice of Decision was delivered to the Town Clerk. This begins a 20-day appeal period ending Wednesday, May 19. The Notice of Decision can be viewed here.An appeal of the decision was filed before the close of the 20-day window.
On September 28, 2021, AT&T surrendered the Special Permit and any and all rights to construct the cell tower as granted under the Special Permit. Read the document here.

PUBLIC HEARING INFORMATION
A hearing for this proposal was opened via Zoom/phone at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. The official hearing notice is here. The hearing was continued to January 20; February 10; February 17; and March 3. On March 3 the hearing was closed. The "shot clock" was extended to April 30 by agreement between the applicant and Planning Board.
A "balloon demonstration" was conducted the first two weeks in November in order to provide town residents a meaningful opportunity to assess potential visual impacts of the proposal.Read the full balloon demonstration notice here, noting that weather-related changes to the float dates are indicated below.
